PREVIEW

Blackpool can climb into third place in the Championship with victory over Hull City as Ian Holloway pushes for a quick return to the top flight. The Tangerines were hammered by West Ham in their last home game, but they showed plenty of spirit when beating Bristol City the following game.

Holloway knows he cannot afford many more poor performances given it’s so tight in the promotion stakes. Another slip up this evening could mean that the Tangerines are out of the top six come Sunday evening. On the opening day of the season a lone Gary Taylor-Fletcher goal got the win at the KC Stadium and a league double is up for grabs.

Hull will give Blackpool a serious test as they come into the game without a defeat in six Championship games. That run includes three wins and three draws, but they’ve failed to win their past two games. Back-to-back goalless draws underlines the problems the Tigers have and they’ll need something special to get the better of Blackpool. Hull’s promotion push has been built on a rock-solid back four that hasn’t conceded for seven outings across all competitions.

Only two of Hull’s previous 13 Championship matches have produced over 2.5 goals, with ten of the other 11 ending with under 1.5 goals. It looks set to be a very tight game, so backing there to be fewer than 2.5 goals at 1.85 looks the best option.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back under 2.5 goals at around 1.85: 6 points
Thursday’s Return: +3.80 points
MARCH RETURN TO DATE: +3.80
