PREVIEW
West Indies’ 24 run victory on Saturday saw the hosts take an unassailable 3-1 series lead as they head into the final ODI with New Zealand. The last ODI is at the familiar Basseterre where the two nations have shared a win each from two outings there this series.

Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels have performed well with the bat, although the former will have been disappointed to be dismissed for 16 on Saturday having looked in good touch. With the ball in hand, Sunil Narine continues to leave the Black Caps’ batsmen utterly confused. His figures of 2 for 20 in the previous ODI are the ninth-most economical figures for a West Indies spinner in ODI cricket. In contrast Tino Best’s raw pace has complemented the young spinner perfectly.

Even though New Zealand are out of the series they will be pleased with the improvements made in the past two ODIs. The opening two matches suggested that it was going to be an embarrassment, but the tourists deserve some credit for at least making the series more competitive. Ross Taylor’s excellent knock of 110 almost proved enough and he’ll be looking to keep his good form up ahead of the Test series.

It remains to be seen if West Indies opt to rest some players, but even if they do I fancy them to have enough to seal the series 4-1. The Black Caps have lost four of their past five ODIs and another at around 1.59 on BETDAQ looks the best option.
