PREVIEW

The London Broncos have brought in a man who knows the club very well as they bid to stop the slide that has seen the team – formerly known as the Harlequins – win just three out of 20 league games this season. Tony Rea last coached the Broncos in 2006, leading the team into the play-offs in 2003 and 2005, but it’s an understatement to say the Australian has his work cut out to reverse the London side’s fortunes.

Wigan are flying three points clear at the top of the table and have lost only one of their last 12 games. However, that defeat was when they were eliminated from the Challenge Cup semi-final by Leeds last Saturday, which must have been a big blow to Shaun Wane’s men and chairman Ian Lenagan, who says the defeat will cost the club £250,000.

The Broncos are still without prop Karl Temata  who hasn’t recovered from his hamstring injury and Shane Rodney is sidelined with a neck complaint. Ex-Wigan man Liam Colbon  is recovering from his shoulder reconstruction while second row Jason Golden  is out with a knee injury. Matt Cook  is still an absentee with ligament damage. Wigan have no new injury concerns.

These top of the table v bottom of the table clashes rarely offer much value so a handicap play looks the best option in a game Wigan should really dominate.
