PREVIEW
Manchester City go into today’s early evening kick-off against Swansea with manager Roberto Mancini probably feeling the pressure more than any other time as Citizen’s boss. Having failed to make it through the Champions League group stages last year, better was expected this time around but one point from three European games sees City’s hope of advancing in tatters.

The 3-1 defeat in the Netherlands to Ajax means City need to bounce back today in the Premier League. A formidable home league record – they won 17 of 18 home games last term and Everton in December 2010 were the last team to win at the Etihad – means they are around 1.25 on BETDAQ to dispatch a Swansea side, who are yet to win away from home under Michael Laudrup.

Even with several key injuries and Mancini persisting with a new defensive formation that continues to leak goals, it is hard to see Swansea shocking the champions. In this fixture last year the Swans managed to keep the scorelines level at 0-0 after 45 minutes but City upped their game in the latter stages and four goals in the last 35 minutes gave them a comfortable win.

It’s likely to be a similar story today with the superior quality at Mancini’s disposal bound to break down a well-organised Swansea. The visitors are capable of scoring, particularly through their dangerous new signing Michu, so we can expect goals.
