PREVIEW
The Manchester derbies last term ultimately proved crucial to Manchester City beating their bitter rivals Manchester United to the title. It was City’s superb 6-1 win at Old Trafford that helped them clear of United on goal difference in May, but the 1-0 win in this fixture in April was also key.

Both bosses will play down the ramifications of any defeat today but the psychological advantage of a win cannot be understated. With Sir Alex Ferguson’s side sitting three points clear of Roberto Mancini’s men, it is a game the hosts will be desperate to win, especially considering their disappointing exit from Europe in midweek.

City are without a loss at the Etihad in 37 league games but, despite remaining as the only unbeaten side in the Premier League, they haven’t been all that impressive and United might fancy their chances of ending that long sequence.

Just four goals have been scored in this fixture in the last five games and never more than one in each game. Therefore, those expecting a goalfest are likely to be out of luck.

United have been gung-ho this season, going behind in 14 games, and have yet to draw. The safest option looks to be backing under 2.5 goals at 1.74 on BETDAQ. And, if United can shore up a struggling backline, there may be value in backing the visitors to win 1-0 at around 15.5 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back under 2.5 goals at around 1.74 on BETDAQ: 4 points
Back United to win 1-0 at around 15.5 on BETDAQ: 1 point

Saturday: +5.67 points
DECEMBER RETURN TO DATE: +9.45 points
