Tottenham have made a pretty poor start to their Europa League campaign in Group J after drawing all three of their games so far and anything other than a win tonight will put serious pressure on Andre Villas-Boas side’s hopes of qualifying.
Maribor frustrated Spurs last time they met in Slovenia on matchday three and the hosts today had to come from behind to prevent an embarrassing away defeat.
A home loss to Wigan in the Premier League on Saturday means Tottenham have now lost three of their last six games. In Europe they are on a six-match winless streak but, overall at White Hart Lane, they have suffered just two defeats in their last 13 European fixtures.
Those defeats have come in their last five matches but Maribor don’t travel well, losing their last five games away from the Ljudski vrt Stadium. They have only ever won one game in 15 on the road, back in 1999 against Dynamo Kiev.
Their recent form also isn’t great with the Slovenian champions losing three of their last five and the draw against Spurs was the first time in three meetings with English clubs that they avoided defeat.
The Lilywhites recent slump in form is worrying and a Tottenham win is definitely not the certainty 1.29 on BETDAQ would suggest. The best bet may be to have a small play on the half-time result being a draw.
