Manchester United have still not looked fully convincing this term in either the Premier League or the Champions League but Sir Alex Ferguson will see tonight’s game against Braga at Old Trafford as a great chance to build some momentum going into Sunday’s crucial clash with league leaders Chelsea.
United are unbeaten in their last eight Champions League games against Portuguese opposition but have drawn three of the last four, including the last two at Old Trafford, while the visitors are unbeaten in their last five matches against English teams in Europe. In that time, Braga have won four and conceded just one goal. José Peseiro’s men have also lost just one of their last eight European matches away from home, winning three, and might provide more of a test than their odds of 9.4 on BETDAQ might suggest. The Red Devils are warm favourites at around 1.43.
Robin van Persie will be looking to continue his good form – the Dutch striker has scored five goals in his last five Champions League appearances – and there has been a goal scored inside the first 15 minutes in each of the last five Champions League games involving Man Utd.
United have scored in their last 18 European matches in a row and we can surely bank on them to continue that run tonight. Ferguson has already said he will rest Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand ahead of the weekend and this will just be a case of getting the job done.
The three-time winners have only played two goals all term that haven’t featured over 2.5 goals and we should expect that trend to continue later.
