PREVIEW

Arsene Wenger’s side bounced back well from their North London derby defeat with a 2-1 win over Sunderland last weekend. But Arsenal now face a far tougher test in France as they travel to Marseille this evening, who have started brilliantly in Group F.

Marseille boast of a 100% record from their opening matches and they have yet to concede a goal. However, the Gunners are unbeaten in their two games and arguably took an away point from the group’s toughest side – Borussia Dortmund. Although this is the first time these two clubs have met, Marseille have had plenty of experience playing Premier League sides. Only last year Marseille beat Chelsea at home in a 1-0 triumph.

The Gunners haven’t played in France since the 2002/03 Champions League and they came through that contest against Auxerre 1-0. Before that fixture they had won their past two games on French soil.

Away form remains a concern for Wenger in Europe and his side have lost six of their past eight away games in the Champions League. Their last away victory came against Serbian outfit FK Partizan at the group stages of last year.

Arsenal remain inconsistent on their travels this year, but they showed against Dortmund that they can be a threat to anyone. Given the host’s strong start in Europe, I would be inclined to back the draw at around 3.45 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
