PREVIEW
It’s the tie of the Champions League last-16, the one the ‘world has been waiting for’ according to Jose Mourinho, as his Real Madrid side host Manchester United tonight in what promises to be a thrilling game.

With Celtic effectively out of the competition after their 3-0 home defeat to Juventus last night and Arsenal facing a really tough tie with Bayern Munich, Sir Alex Ferguson’s charges may be the only hope of having a British team in this competition’s quarter-finals.

The European Cup is synonymous with Real Madrid and the club have won this tournament a record nine times. They long gave up on La Liga after a poor run of form, combined with Barcelona’s brilliance, meant that they had little chance of catching their Catalan rivals. Everything seems to have been geared from then on to lifting that tenth trophy in May and, for Mourinho, a record third triumph with a third different club.

If there’s one regret that Ferguson must have as a manager, it will be the fact that having delivered so many league titles he has only twice tasted glory on club football’s biggest stage. But three finals in five years suggests he is getting the hang of things and the Scot knows if his side can get a result at the Bernabeu later the Red Devils will be in pole position to progress.

Cristiano Ronaldo has hit an amazing 103 goals in 89 games on home turf for Madrid and the former United man is just 1.83 on BETDAQ to find the net.

But the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie know how to find the net too, so we should expect goals. Backing over 1/1.5 goals in the first half at around 2.08 looks the way to go.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
