PREMIER LEAGUE: We preview Saturday’s Premier League games with extended stats and recommended BETDAQ bets including SPURS v CHELSEA at 5.30pm.

BRIGHTON V LEICESTER

3pm The Premier League returns on Saturday and we start with Brighton hosting Leicester. Brighton had been grinding out some nice 1-0 wins however they lost 3-1 and 2-1 away to Everton and Cardiff in their two games prior to the International break. Leicester suffered a tragic incident when their owner sadly passed away after a helicopter crash; however they have really come together and battled hard to win 1-0 away from home against Cardiff – although after that they were held 0-0 to Burnley who have been really struggling this season. It’s hard to know what to expect from Leicester as they go through this difficult time however they have been playing good football away from home and Brighton are only an average side. We expect a very close game here and the draw looks the value call at 3.3 to start the weekend.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Draw at 3.3.

MATCH STATS

  • Brighton have lost just one of their last five home league games against Leicester (W3 D1), though it was in this exact fixture last season (0-2).
  • Leicester won both Premier League meetings with Brighton last season by a 2-0 scoreline, with four different goalscorers across the two games.
  • Against no other Premier League side do Leicester have a better 100% win record than they do against Brighton (2/2 – same as vs Portsmouth and Barnsley).
  • Since losing against Leicester in March, Brighton have lost just one of their last eight home Premier League games (W4 D3), winning the last two in a row.
  • Leicester have won three of their last five away league games (L2), more than they had in their previous 11 on the road (W2 D1 L8).
  • Since the start of last season, Leicester have both scored and conceded in a league-high 32 different Premier League games.
  • Leicester have conceded a league-high 25% of their Premier League goals this season in the opening 15 minutes of games (4/16), while they’re one of three teams yet to score in this time period so far (along with Crystal Palace and Southampton).
  • Brighton’s Glenn Murray has faced Leicester more often without scoring than he has versus any other opponent in English league football (7 games).
  • Brighton’s Glenn Murray has scored five goals in his five home Premier League games this season, with these goals being worth seven points to the Seagulls.
  • Brighton’s Lewis Dunk has scored in his last two Premier League games, having scored just once in his previous 47 in the competition.

EVERTON V CARDIFF

3pm Things were looking very bad for Cardiff a couple of games ago however they have been battling hard and now you’d have to say that they have a fighting chance of staying up. They had been sitting in 20th position on a lot of stats and it was a common opinion that they were going back down quickly; however a win here would see them possibly jump out of the bottom three depending on results around them. They will have their work cut out to stop Everton though who were in good form prior to the International break – they managed to hold Chelsea to a draw away from home in their last fixture and they have won their last two home games while scoring five goals. Both sides have been scoring and conceding in their recent games and we expect goals here; over 2.5 goals is 1.85 and that looks good value looking at the stats.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Over 2.5 goals at 1.85.

MATCH STATS

  • Everton are unbeaten in their last eight top-flight home games against Cardiff (W6 D2), winning the last three by an aggregate score of 15-5.
  • Cardiff haven’t beaten Everton in a league game since December 1956, drawing four and losing three since.
  • Cardiff have taken just two points from 48 available against the six ever-present Premier League sides (W0 D2 L14), losing all nine such games away from home.
  • Since losing against Crystal Palace in April 2014, Everton are unbeaten in their last 13 home Premier League games against promoted sides (W11 D2), winning each of the last nine in a row.
  • Everton have lost just one of their last nine Premier League home games (W5 D3), winning the last three in a row.
  • Cardiff have scored fewer away goals than any other side in English league football this season (2).
  • Cardiff are looking to secure consecutive top-flight victories for the first time since April 1962.
  • Cardiff have earned just five points from their last 51 available away from home in the Premier League (W1 D2 L14) – they’d won six points from their first 21 available in the competition (W1 D3 L3).
  • Since joining the club, Gylfi Sigurdsson has been directly involved in more Premier League goals than any other Everton player (9 goals, 5 assists).
  • After failing to score in his first six appearances in the competition, Cardiff’s Callum Paterson has scored in three of his last four Premier League games.

FULHAM V SOUTHAMPTON

3pm Fulham had a terrible run of form prior to the International break and they return bottom of the Premier League table; however they have a new manager! It remains to be seen how quickly Ranieri can change this side but if they are to stay in the Premier League he simply has to sort out their issues at the back. They are equalling records for conceding goals already in the Premier League and have lost in their last six Premier League games. This is a massive game for them with a chance at home to beat another side who sit around them in the Premier League – a win for Fulham would see them jump up to match Southampton on eight points and with Southampton struggling to score goals – this is a superb chance for Ranieri to start with a win. We feel that it’s worth taking a chance and backing Fulham here at 2.72 – a new manager will give a great buzz around the stadium and Southampton are poor in front of goal – we feel that Fulham look a shade too big at 2.72.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Fulham to beat Southampton at 2.72.

MATCH STATS

  • Fulham have lost just one of their last 14 home league games against Southampton (W7 D6), though it was in their last such meeting in February 2014 (0-3).
  • In all competitions, Southampton are unbeaten in their last six meetings with Fulham (W3 D3), winning the last three without conceding.
  • Southampton won their last away Premier League game in London vs Crystal Palace – they’ve not won consecutive league games in the capital since 2014-15 (vs Crystal Palace and QPR).
  • Fulham have lost their last six Premier League games – they’ve not lost seven league games in a row since a run of 11 between December 1961 and February 1962.
  • No side has failed to score in more Premier League games than Southampton this season (6), though Fulham are the only side yet to keep a clean sheet in the competition so far.
  • Fulham have conceded 31 goals in their 12 Premier League games so far – only in the 1925-26 second tier campaign have they conceded more at this stage of a league season (34).
  • Southampton have scored with just eight of their 173 shots in the Premier League this season, giving them the lowest conversion rate in the division (4.6%).
  • Fulham are without a clean sheet in their last 16 Premier League games, conceding at least twice in 14 of those.
  • In his first six Premier League appearances for Fulham, Aleksandar Mitrovic attempted 28 shots, with 12 on target and five goals. In his subsequent six games, he’s failed to score from 15 shots, with just two of these being on target.
  • Danny Ings has been directly involved in 63% of Southampton’s eight Premier League goals this season (4 goals, 1 assist), the highest share of any player in 2018-19.

MANCHESTER UNITED V CRYSTAL PALACE

3pm Crystal Palace went into the International break after losing five of their last six games in all competitions and looking at their record against United; they won’t be looking forward to this game! They have lost their last 11 visits to Old Trafford and Palace have never beaten United in the Premier League. You’d have to say that United aren’t as good these days however even David Moyes kept the unbeaten record against Palace! Looking at the prices; United look too big at 1.44 – they wouldn’t usually be this high at home against a side like Palace however they have been unreliable this season. Even allowing for that though; Palace come into this clash in terrible form and looking at their recent games United won’t have to be in top form to beat them – we expect a home win and we’re happy to take the 1.44.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Manchester United to beat Crystal Palace at 1.44.

MATCH STATS

  • Manchester United are unbeaten in their last 20 league games against Crystal Palace (W17 D3) since a 0-3 loss in May 1991.
  • Crystal Palace have lost their last 11 league visits to Old Trafford, failing to score on 10 occasions since a 2-1 win in December 1989 thanks to a Mark Bright brace.
  • Manchester United have played 18 Premier League games against Crystal Palace without ever losing (W15 D3) – the highest amount of games one team has faced another in the competition without ever suffering defeat.
  • Man Utd have conceded at least once in their last eight Premier League games – only once have they had a longer run without a clean sheet in the competition (nine games between August and October 1999).
  • Crystal Palace are winless in seven Premier League games (D2 L5), and have lost each of their last three away from home.
  • Manchester United have trailed for 395 minutes in the Premier League this season – only the three clubs in the relegation zone coming into this weekend have been behind for longer (Fulham 553, Cardiff 474 and Huddersfield 454).
  • Juan Mata has scored in two of his three Premier League home games against Crystal Palace for Man Utd. The Spaniard is currently on 49 goals and 49 assists in the Premier League.
  • Romelu Lukaku has scored in six of his last eight Premier League appearances against Crystal Palace, including both for Manchester United last season.
  • Anthony Martial has scored in his last five Premier League games for Man Utd, and could become just the fourth different player to score in six consecutive appearances for the Red Devils (after Eric Cantona, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo).
  • Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho has only lost one of his 51 Premier League home games kicking off at 3pm on a Saturday (W41 D9), with that defeat coming against Crystal Palace when he was Chelsea manager in August 2015.

WATFORD V LIVERPOOL

3pm Liverpool got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Fulham before the International break. They have been impressive thus far this season; however you’d have to say that they’ve gone through a little dip, results wise, and losing 2-0 away in the Champions League before the Fulham game was a major shock. If they win or draw here though they will be unbeaten in their opening 13 Premier League games this season and that will be the first time that’s happened since 2007-08. Looking at the stats, we can expect goals here – we always tend to see goals between these two sides and looking at their form of both teams we can expect similar here. Watford have conceded 17 goals in their last five Premier League games against Liverpool and they have been scoring goals themselves this season too – we can’t see past over 2.5 goals here at 1.73.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Over 2.5 goals at 1.73.

MATCH STATS

  • Since beating them 3-0 in December 2015, Watford are winless in their last five Premier League meetings with Liverpool (D1 L4), shipping 17 goals in that time.
  • In all competitions, Liverpool have won nine of their last 11 meetings with Watford (D1 L1), keeping a clean sheet in seven of those victories.
  • None of the 22 top-flight meetings between Watford and Liverpool have ended goalless.
  • Watford have lost 15 of their 17 Premier League matches against sides starting that day in the top two of the table, beating Chelsea in September 1999 and Arsenal in January 2017.
  • Watford have won five of their last seven Premier League home games, losing the other two against Manchester United and Bournemouth.
  • Liverpool are looking to remain unbeaten in their opening 13 matches to a Premier League season for the first time since 2007-08.
  • Since a 2-2 draw with West Brom in April, Liverpool haven’t conceded more than once in any of their last 15 Premier League games, shipping just six goals in that time.
  • Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been directly involved in six goals in his two Premier League games against Watford (5 goals, 1 assist). Only Luis Suarez vs Cardiff has a better goal involvement per game ratio against an opponent in the competition (3.5, minimum two games).
  • Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino has been directly involved in seven goals in his last five Premier League games against Watford (4 goals, 3 assists), scoring and assisting a goal in their 3-3 draw at Vicarage Road last season.
  • Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino (38) are Liverpool’s joint-highest goalscorers in Premier League games under manager Jurgen Klopp.

WEST HAM V MANCHESTER CITY

3pm West Ham won’t be looking forward to this clash! They have had some very good home results this season, including beating Manchester United and holding Chelsea to a draw – however they have lost their last three to City here and have conceded 13 goals while doing so! It’s hard to see anything but a Manchester City win here; however the markets agree with them only trading 1.27 at the time of writing. It’s hard to find value in City games these days as they are priced so short – you almost have to wait until they meet the bigger sides. We’re going to take a chance here and back a big Man City win – they love playing West Ham and Any Other Away Win (City to score four or more and win) is trading 4.2 in the Correct Score market. Looking at the stats and the form that City have been in, that price looks worth backing.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Any Other Away Win at 4.2.

MATCH STATS

  • West Ham have lost all three of their meetings with Man City at the London Stadium in all competitions, scoring just once and conceding 13.
  • Man City have won all four of their Premier League meetings with West Ham under Pep Guardiola by an aggregate score of 13-3.
  • Man City have scored four goals in their last two away Premier League games against West Ham – the last team to score 4+ in three consecutive away games against the same opponent were Chelsea against Bolton (October 2009, January 2011 and October 2011).
  • West Ham are looking to secure consecutive home league wins for the first time since December 2016 (vs Burnley and Hull).
  • Since their 3-4 defeat at Liverpool in January, Man City have conceded just five goals in their last 12 Premier League away games, and never more than once in a match.
  • Manchester City have won their last five Premier League games in London – only one non-London club has ever won six consecutive top-flight games in the capital (Portsmouth between December 1950 and December 1951).
  • West Ham have won just one of their last 15 Premier League games against sides starting the day top of the table (D3 L11), though that victory came against Man City in September 2015.
  • Man City’s David Silva has been directly involved in eight goals in his 11 Premier League games against West Ham (4 goals, 4 assists) – only against Newcastle has he been involved in more in the competition (9).
  • The 88 Premier League games involving Man City boss Pep Guardiola have seen 3.33 goals per game (F222 A71), while the 126 games involving West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini have seen 3.21 (F270 A134) – the highest two ratios in the competition (minimum 50 games).
  • Felipe Anderson has scored in his last two Premier League games – he could become the eighth different Brazilian player to score in three in a row in the competition, and first since Gabriel Jesus in April.

TOTTENHAM V CHELSEA

5.30pm This is undoubtedly the highlight of the weekend and what a massive London Derby! We always see great clashes between these two sides; however both have been in excellent form this season and it’s hard to see anything but a quality game here. We have a very open market with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Tottenham 2.84, Chelsea 2.68 and the draw is 3.5. Chelsea have always had a good record against Spurs, however this Spurs side is a different animal and they have been improving the head-to-head record recently. Chelsea have only won twice in their last 12 away games against Spurs and with Spurs playing some good football this season – we’re happy to lay Chelsea at 2.68. We feel that Spurs should be a little shorter and Chelsea should be a bit bigger so laying the away side looks the value call.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Chelsea at 2.68.
