PREMIER LEAGUE SUNDAY: We preview Sunday’s three Premier League games with recommended BETDAQ bets and extended match stats. MAN U v WATFORD (2pm), WOLVES v NORWICH (2pm) and ARSENAL v EVERTON (4.30pm).

MANCHESTER UNITED V WATFORD

2pm The Europa League boys are in action on Sunday with Manchester United, Wolves and Arsenal all at home. United definitely opened the door for a possible top four finish last weekend when beating Chelsea away from home. However, the reality is that they have to improve against the smaller side. They have performed well against the top sides but it’s been the midtable sides stopping them. They’ve given themselves a chance, and now they have to finish the season as strongly as possible. That starts today!

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Manchester United 1.63, Watford 6.6 and the draw is 4.2. Watford have already beaten Manchester United this season – that came at a time when Watford where well adrift towards the bottom of the table too. Watford have improved since, although they still need to keep winning if they have any chance of staying up. United have failed to score in their last two home games and with Watford fighting to stay up, we can see the away side frustrating United again. United just haven’t been good enough to back at prices like 1.63 and from a value point of view we’re happy to lay them.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Manchester United at 1.63.

MATCH STATS

  • Manchester United have won all six of their Premier League games against Watford at Old Trafford, scoring 14 goals and conceding just two.
  • Watford have never won an away league match against Man Utd in 12 attempts (D2 L10), losing each of their last eight in a row after last avoiding defeat in November 1985 in a 1-1 draw.
  • In their entire league history, the only team Manchester United have faced more often at home without losing than Watford (12 games) is Hull City (13 games).
  • Manchester United have failed to score in their last two Premier League home games (0-2 v Burnley, 0-0 v Wolves). They last went three without a goal at Old Trafford in May 2002.
  • After a six-game unbeaten run under Nigel Pearson (W4 D2), Watford have lost two of their last three Premier League games (D1).
  • Manchester United have kept back-to-back clean sheets in the Premier League, last recording three in a row almost a year ago to the day (February 24th 2019).
  • Manchester United have only lost one of their last 21 Premier League games when scoring a goal (1-2 vs Crystal Palace in August), and are unbeaten in their last 15 in which they’ve found the net in the competition (W9 D6).
  • Watford manager Nigel Pearson is looking to become the fourth English manager to complete a Premier League double over Man Utd, after Glenn Hoddle (1993-94, Chelsea), Alan Curbishley (2006-07, West Ham) and Garry Monk (2014-15, Swansea City).
  • Odion Ighalo could make his home debut for Manchester United in this match; the Nigerian scored 16 goals in 55 Premier League appearances for Watford between 2015- 2017. The last player to score on their first home Premier League appearance for a club, having previously played for the opponents in the competition, was Frank Lampard for Man City against Chelsea in September 2014.
  • Manchester United’s Anthony Martial last two Premier League goals have been headers – only two of his first 41 strikes in the competition were headed.

WOLVES V NORWICH

2pm It’s a tale of two very different sides in this fixture. Wolves will be absolutely buzzing after beating Espanyol 4-0 in the Europa League on Thursday, while Norwich started the weekend six points away from 19th position and look certain to go down. Wolves winning 4-0 in the first leg is such a boost because the pressure comes off for the second leg, meaning extra rest and a fresher team going into the next round. Norwich will want to spoil that party, but given the way they have been playing it’s unlikely that they can.

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Wolves 1.55, Norwich 7.4 and the draw is 4.5. The Norwich away record is very poor this season. They’ve only won once and earned the fewest points while scoring the fewest goals. Wolves have drawn a lot more games than they’d like this season, but they should easily get the job done against this Norwich side. They are in goal-scoring form and the 1.55 is worth backing.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Wolves to beat Norwich at 1.55.

MATCH STATS

  • Wolves are looking to complete a league double over Norwich for the first time since the 2005-06 season, when the sides were competing in the Championship.
  • This is only the fourth Premier League encounter between Wolves and Norwich, with both sides winning one game apiece with one draw. That stalemate came in the only previous game at Molineux in December 2011, a 2-2 draw.
  • Wolves have lost more than half of their previous 13 Premier League games against sides starting the day bottom of the table (W4 D2 L7). However, they did win their most recent such game, against Watford earlier this season.
  • Wolves have drawn 12 of their 26 Premier League games this season, with only Arsenal drawing more. It’s already their joint-highest number of draws in a single Premier League campaign (level with 2003-04), last having more in a top-flight season in 1973-74 (15).
  • Having scored in 22 of their last 23 league games since August, Wolves have now failed to find the net in each of their last two. They’ve not gone three top-flight games without a goal since April 2012.
  • Away from home in the Premier League this season, Norwich have won the fewest games (1), earned the fewest points (6) and scored the fewest goals (6). However, the Canaries have kept three clean sheets on the road, only keeping more in 2013-14 in a 38-game season in the competition (4).
  • Only Watford (11) have failed to score in more Premier League games than Norwich this season (10), with the Canaries failing to score in their last two in the competition.
  • Only Crystal Palace (5) have scored fewer first-half goals in the Premier League this season than Wolves (9). Meanwhile, Wolves have also conceded a league-high 66% of their Premier League goals in the opening 45 minutes this season (21/32).
  • Wolves’ Raúl Jiménez has scored more Premier League goals than any other player this season without ever netting the first goal in a match (11). Indeed, seven of the Mexican’s 11 strikes this season have been equalising goals for Wolves.
  • Norwich’s Emiliano Buendía has created 69 goalscoring opportunities for his teammates in the Premier League this season, with only Kevin de Bruyne creating more in thecompetition. It’s also the most by a Norwich player in a single top-flight season since we have this data available (since 2003-04).

ARSENAL V EVERTON

4.30pm Arsenal managed to grind out a tough away win in the Europa League on Thursday night, and they will have to grind in another tough game here. Ancelotti has definitely improved Everton sine coming in and they’ve only lost once in 11 Premier League games now. They’ve won six of those games too, so unlike Arsenal they are getting the job done. Arsenal have drawn the most games in the Premier League this season, however Arteta has done a good job since coming in. It’s improvement!

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Arsenal 2.1, Everton 3.85 and the draw is 3.75. Arsenal come into this fixture off the back of two wins which is very rare for them! They are unbeaten in six Premier League games, but they have drawn four of them and with Everton in great form, we have to lay Arsenal at 2.1. It’s been a profitable tactic on Arsenal this season and Everton can be the next team to get a result against the Gunners.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Arsenal at 2.1.

MATCH STATS

  • Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 23 home Premier League games against Everton (W19 D4) since a 2-1 defeat in January 1996 at Highbury under Bruce Rioch.
  • Everton have kept clean sheets in their last two league games against Arsenal, both at Goodison Park, last keeping three in a row back in March 1913 (four in a row). The Toffees have, however, kept just one clean sheet in their last 32 away league games at Arsenal.
  • Arsenal have scored 327 top-flight goals against Everton – more than any other opponent has scored against another in English top-flight history. The Gunners have also won more top-flight games against Everton than any side has against another (97).
  • Everton’s 23-game away winless run against Arsenal is their third longest run in their top- flight history against an opponent, after an ongoing 24-game run against Chelsea and 35- game run against Leeds United between 1946 and 2001.
  • Arsenal are unbeaten in six Premier League games (W2 D4), though haven’t won consecutive games in the competition since a run of three in August 2019. The Gunners are also looking to keep three consecutive league clean sheets for the first time since November 2017.
  • Everton have lost just one of their last 11 Premier League games (W6 D4). The Toffees are looking to secure three consecutive league victories for the first time since April 2019, the third game of which was against Arsenal.
  • Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has won twice away at Arsenal at the Emirates, winning in November 2009 with Chelsea and March 2017 with Bayern Munich – the only managers to win three away games against the Gunners at the Emirates are Alex Ferguson (3) and Pep Guardiola (4).
  • Nicolas Pépé scored once and provided two assists in Arsenal’s 4-0 win against Newcastle last time out – as many goal involvements as the Ivorian had managed in his previous 13 Premier League appearances (2 goals, 1 assists).
  • In his Premier League career, Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored 30 goals in 37 games played on Sundays, compared to 17 goals in 36 games on all other days of the week.
  • Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored 11 Premier League goals this season; the last English player to score more in a single campaign for the Toffees was Kevin Campbell in 1999-00 (12).
