O’Brien’s Smugglers’ Cove looks the answer to the Listed Dee Stakes at Chester today and provide the trainer with his fourth consecutive winner in the race.
Today’s race has cut up to just four runners with the soft ground responsible for stacks of non runners on today’s card.
Crucially, Smuggler’s Cove should handle the soft ground with aplomb. He was good enough to finish third in the Group 1 Dubai Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket last season and should strip fitter for his comeback run at the Curragh where he finished sixth in the Group 3 Gladness Stakes.
Sir Michael Sroute’s Disegno has finished placed in two Listed races but won’t have encountered ground like this before but still rates as the danger after his encouraging third in the Feilden Stakes at Newmarket.
