SAVING THE BEST UNTIL LAST: SHAMROCK naps in the bumper on the Kilbeggan card on Friday.

Let’s get the disclaimer out of the way first…. it looks a tough card at Kilbeggan this evening – especially the handicap hurdles !!

However, there does look to be a good bet in the concluding bumper run over a longer than usual distance of 2m 3f and 110 yards.

Real Man Of War ran a good race at Punchestown in June to run third to the Willie Mullins odds on chance Totally Dominant. There is little doubt that he will see out this longer trip as he was also third at Limerick over a 2m 2f trip however Totally Dominant didn’t exactly boost the form next time out at Wexford.

Notorious Villain shaped well after a lengthy absence when second, although beaten 14 lengths, to MacBride at Tipperary but often horses can regress from a good run after a long break (the ‘bounce factor’).

But the bet is Supreme Vinnie who was only beaten a neck over course and distance last month making Tempest Missile (4/11 fav) work very hard in the closing stages.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Supreme Vinnie (7.30 Kilbeggan)
