TWO OUT OF TWO: SHAMROCK had TWO WINNERS FROM TWO BETS yesterday. His NAP Don Cossack WON 6/4 and NEXT BEST Vroum Vroum Mag WON 1/2.

I’ve watched the Ladbrokes Ireland Kinloch Brae Chase back several times and still don’t know what would have happened if Champagne Fever hadn’t of fallen at the last.

My pocket leans towards Don Cossack winning anyway as I napped him in the column but Champagne Fever still had a narrow lead at the last, although was coming under considerable pressure. Tiredness may well have been a contributing factor to his error and it might well have been that Don Cossack was finishing with the greater momentum anyway.

Champagne Fever’s rider Ruby Walsh said after the race: “He jumped super up to the last. He never, to me, travelled with the same gusto as he did in the King George, but it was still all to play for. I know Bryan said he thought he’d win anyway. You have to jump to win and we didn’t jump. It’s as simple as that.”

For me though, it’s one of those that simply has to be filed under “UNSOLVED”.

Back to the all-weather tonight and Dundalk stage a seven race card starting at 6.05pm.

Best bet of the night for me is the Mick Halford trained Arif in the maiden at 7.35pm. He showed promise on his debut at the track a month ago on debut when second to Emperor Bob and should improve for that run and the step up to a mile trip here.

Anything around evens on BETDAQ should be snapped up.
