DUNDALK ON FRIDAY: After a mixed day at Clonmel, SHAMROCK heads to Dundalk on Friday night for a NAP on the all-weather.

A mixed day at Clonmel for me yesterday. The nap, Pink Hat, was disappointingly brushed aside by Theatre Bird in the opener and beaten eight lengths but the lay bet on Kalmann was successful – although quite possibly fortunately as Kalmann, who was sent off the 4/5 favourite, was still very much in contention before falling two out. Four of the six runners fell in the beginners chase and I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a bigger winning distance than the official 79 lengths !

I made the case for Under Review in my column earlier this week so am pleased to see him take his chance in the 6.15 at Dundalk tonight.

He’s currently trading at around 6 on BETDAQ which is certainly better than I was hoping for.

The case for him is based around his latest effortless course and distance win for which he has been hiked up 13lb in the weights.

He is a much better performer on the all-weather than the turf, the same of which can’t be said for some of the others here.

NAP: Under Review (6.15 Dundalk)
