BETDAQ 6.4 FINAL RACE NAP: SHAMROCK naps in the final race on a tricky Tramore card on Friday.
Disappointing run from the nap last night, Nuclear Option, who could only finish fourth to the well-backed Weld debutant Sharliyna.
Elsewhere on the card there was an upset in the Group 3 Desmond Stakes with Jim Bolger’s Tribal Beat seeing off the Aidan O’Brien pair Cougar Mountain and Hit It A Bomb who was sent off favourite at 13/8 to maintain his unbeaten record.
O’Brien said after the race: “Hit It A Bomb came there to win but he just got a little bit tired. He will improve plenty for the run. He may come back here on Champions Weekend for the Boomerang Stakes over a mile. He will need a run or two to get him right. Cougar Mountain is a solid horse and ran a solid race.”
Jim Bolger is in cracking form at present and completed a double on the card after the earlier success of Mcguigan.
It’s a quiet weekend for Irish racing by recent standards with Tramore continuing with a nightmare card in terms of finding winners. Good luck if you are punting in the early races.
Best bet might be Foxearth in the closing bumper. I think he achieved just as much as Blue Epona on debut but with Willie Mullins training that one the prices are very much one-sided in her favour.
However, BETDAQ 1.94 v 6.4 is just far too much of an imbalance in a race where I perceive they are of equal merit.
