4 OUT OF 6: SHAMROCK made it four winning naps from his last six yesterday when BORDINI bolted home at Navan.

Good news on two fronts yesterday. The nap, Bordini, stormed home in the closing bumper to make it four winning naps from my last 6.

Saturday: CLARCAM (NAP, WON 10/11)
Sunday: DON COSSACK (NAP, WON 13/8)
Wednesday: SOLOMON NORTHUP (NAP, 2nd)
Friday: SFT ROCK (NAP, WON 3/1)
Saturday: SILVER SALLY (NAP, slipped up)
Sunday: BORDINI (NAP, WON 4/7)

I was also right to be nervous about backing Shaneshill at short odds in the Grade 2 Navan Novice Hurdle.

He again made a couple of jumping errors and was beaten at 4/9 by the Gordon Elliott trained No More Heroes who now looks a very smart prospect.

Shaneshill brought the smart bumper form into the race but was readily brushed aside by No More Heroes who followed up his Fairyhouse success of last month.

Winning trainer Elliott said after the race: “I think he’s a very nice horse. Barry said they didn’t go fast enough for him, and he was a bit guessy at a few of them. I’m not sure where he’ll go next and Naas (Grade One Lawlors Hotel Novice Hurdle, January 4) may come a bit quick for him.

“He’s a three-mile horse for Cheltenham and I’d be looking at the Albert Bartlett. He’s a real relaxed horse and does everything at his own pace.”

It’s a quiet week for Irish racing with no racing scheduled until Dundalk on Friday.
