CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY AT ROSCOMMON: SHAMROCK naps the Aidan O’Brien trained Father Christmas in the 7.00 at Roscommon tonight.
Roscommon stage a mixed card this evening on expected yielding ground.
My best bet on the card is Father Christmas in the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Maiden at 7.00 over 1m 2f.
The Aidan O’Brien runner finished mid-division on debut at Cork before finishing a neck second to Sacrificial at Leopardstown last time out over a mile and giving the distinct impression that the extra two furlongs tonight will prove ideal. Sacrificial went on to win a handicap suggesting the form is solid enough.
The David Wachman trained Dawn Mirage is the biggest and possibly only danger. He has had a little more experience but is also trying this trip for the first time. He’s run well on all four starts and was third to another O’Brien runner, Jinsha Lake, at Navan last time out.
Elsewhere on the card, the Jessica Harrington trained Rock The World should follow up his really impressive Ballinrobe success in the Dermot Hughes Car Sales Novice Chase at 8.00.
