SHAMROCK NOW 7 WINNING NAPS FROM LAST 12: The SHAMROCK naps run goes on with him now hitting a strike-rate of 58% thanks to FORGOTTEN RULES winning at Navan yesterday.

Forgotten Rules (NAP) WON 8/11 at yesterday to continue the good recent record of naps which now stands at 7 WINNERS from the last 12.

Forgotten Rules is now favourite for the Ascot Gold Cup after his success in the Coolmore Vintage Crop Stakes (Group 3) and he remains unbeaten.

Winning trainer Dermot Weld said after the race: “I was very pleased with the performance and thought it was an excellent renewal of the race. Two very brave and high-class stayers fought it out. Not taking anything away from the second he’s a very good horse. He had the benefit of a run and was getting 5lb so I thought it was an excellent performance by Forgotten Rules on his first run back. I’m pleased with the way he handled the drying ground and it augurs well for his future. The obvious logical next step is the Ascot Gold Cup and the only caveat I would have is that he would never want the ground too firm.”

Ladbrokes have made Forgotten Rules their 2/1 favourite for the Gold Cup next month.

Weld should also have the answer to the fillies maiden at Roscommon tonight on their mixed card.

His Kaleefa has very much the best form in the book and should be strong enough to see off main rival Askmour who shaped well at Dundalk on her belated debut.
