UN DE SCEAUX ON SUNDAY: Willie Mullins intends to run his exciting prospect Un De Sceaux at Leopardstown on Sunday in the Frank Ward Solicitors Arkle Novice Chase.
Bar a fall on his chasing debut Un De Sceaux has a perfect record and is now the winner of six from his seven races.
Willie Mullins now feels the time is right to step the seven-year-old up in class to contest the Frank Ward Solicitors Arkle Novice Chase at Leopardstown on Sunday.
Mullins has also made an entry for him in the Grade Two Lightning Novices’ Chase at Doncaster on Saturday but this is precautionary depending on what the weather does.
Mullins told At The Races: “The plan is to come to Leopardstown. He’s in there, he’s in Doncaster. I just stuck him in because there are so few two-mile races just in case the weather acts up here or there so we just have a choice.”
“We’ve been avoiding the issue with Un De Sceaux and going round the place in his hurdling career, but now we going to let him run in Grade One races to see what happens.”
Un De Sceaux heads BETDAQ’s ante-post betting for the Racing Post Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham in March and is trading around 3.25.
