SHAMROCK HAS THE 11.5 TALK ON THE STREET AT TAUNTON: With no Irish racing, Shamrock turns to Taunton for some sport this afternoon, checking out the Irish point-to-point winners.

Irish-breds have big chances in England today. I’ve been out of form at home lately, so I’ll take the boat train to Taunton and follow the King.

My royalty among English trainers is Philip Hobbs and I’m hoping he can score with either or both of Talkonthestreet (12.40) and Carrigmorna King (1.45).

And no I won’t catch the boat train: a huge 11.5 Talkonthestreet has me glued to the computer, Daq plotting after this early good position: can’t leave this race alone now, after such a good start!

I know I’ll have to save on Black Thunder at some time or other, after he split two subsequent Kempton winners when second at Sandown.

Talkonthestreet, a Dromahane point winner in April for Paul Power, was runner-up at Aintree to a horse landing his four-timer, with third, fourth and sixth all winners.

Carrigmorna King won a 3m point at Borris House on a sound surface in April and needs the rain to stay away from Taunton, though good to soft would be fine judged on his excellent third at Newbury.

Nicky Henderson worries the bejesus out of any punter currently opposing him – 24 placed out of 45, with 15 winners! – but Zama Zama has to give us 6lb and his Leicester good-ground hurdles win was in poor time.

My third Irish point winner running at Taunton today is Mr Chow (3.30), a CD winner who looks progressive in the hands of local trainer, David Pipe, though he still has to learn to jump with fluency, and yer man McCoy on Hopeful Start will be waiting to pounce on any weakness.

SHAMROCK’S BETS
NAP: Mr Chow (3.30 Taunton), saver Hopeful Start.
STOP AT A WINNER: Talkonthestreet (12.40 Taunton), if lose Carrigmorna King (1.45 Taunton)
DAQ MULTIPLES: five mixed doubles Talkonthestreet (12.40 Taunton) with Carrigmorna King (1.45 Taunton) and both Mr Chow and Hopeful Start (3.30 Taunton)
