NOW IT’S FIVE STRAIGHT NAPS: Super-tipster Shamrock was in sizzling form again yesterday, when Sizing Gold (WON 9-10) became his fifth consecutive nap, after winners at 4-5, 5-2, 4-9 and 2-9.

DOUBLE-ODDS BETDAQ CHELTENHAM BET: Shamrock suggested that Mourad (WON 3-1) could win the Boyne Hurdle if tactics were changed to a front-running role. That’s exactly how it happened, and now he’s found a way to get double the odds for Cheltenham. On Betdaq, of course.

It might be the making of Mourad. The man mountain Big Buck’s has to be beaten one day, and Mourad’s new front-running tactics will make a different race of the World Hurdle at Cheltenham.

He took a couple of obstacles to realize what was wanted at Navan yesterday but then adapted well and led them at a pace which took the finish out of Mikael D’Haguenet, who was attempting a four-timer.

This race, the Boyne Hurdle, has been our best guide to the World Hurdle in the past, with Galmoy, Trapper John and Dorans Pride doing the double.

Big Buck’s had Mourad a disappointing 17 lengths back in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham last month and, although Mourad was ‘enjoying himself more’ yesterday – in the word’s of handler Willie Mullins – you need 20-1 or so, if you are to back him for Cheltenham.

What do you get with the bookies? Answer: 12-1 Coral, 14-1 each Ladbrokes and Paddy Power. But Betdaq to the rescue!

At time of writing, with Big Buck’s 1.61, Mourad – beaten little more than four lengths in the race last year – is being offered at 24.0, which is far too big, if he can now narrow that gap to a point where he could take advantage of error or off day. That’s nearly double Corals’ odds.
