9-2 NAP SHAKES THE LAYERS: Shamrock’s done it again! He landed back-to-back naps when Shake The Bucket (WON 9-2) scored at Dundalk last night, following his first nap on the resumption of Irish racing this week, Dare To Doubt (WON 4-6).
8-1 BIRTHDAY TREAT: Yesterday’s success for the man who landed fabulous January-February sequences of 30 winning naps didn’t stop at the best bet. His each-way horse, Charismas Birthday (WON 8-1), also scored.
It’s about keeping the run of naps going today and we’ll try and do that as early as possible. Time To Work in the opener at Navan fits the bill after his hugely promising jumping debut at Naas last month when third to Bat Masterson in a 24 runner field. Clearly he already looks to have the same ability over jumps as he did on the flat when trained by Andrew Balding and was twice a winner at Epsom. The fact that Bat Masterson went onto frank the Naas form with a very creditable close-up third in a grade 2 at Fairyhouse recently gives further confidence. The price is about right as this is a race that looks big on numbers and weak on quality. Hopefully by 1.35ish we’ll be on the trail of the fourth nap in a row on Sunday.
Time To Work’s trainer Gordon Elliott could also see a good run from Cottage Oak who has top weight to defy in the 3.30. He’s back after a break today but is a consistent type and I am recommending as a win and place bet on BETDAQ. We could be looking around 2/1 for a place which looks decent enough for a horse that seems very versatile ground wise.
A word of caution on Peking To Paris, the likely favourite in the flat race at 4.40. He was a beaten favourite on debut and with Mullins taking most of his better class bumper runners on the boat to Cheltenham this one could go off a false price. Cross To Boston and Kasszec set fair standards for the Mullins horse to aim at and we are taking him on.
