WE’RE BACK: Irish racing returns at Navan this afternoon and Horse Racing Ireland have announced two additional fixtures.

It feels like it’s been a break for Christmas – just without the presents 🙁

The weather-enforced break in Irish racing will end today (hopefully!) when Navan’s card gets underway at 3.05.

Meanwhile, Horse Racing Ireland have announced two additional fixtures to help make up for the washout this week.

Tipperary will stage an extra jumps fixture a week on Monday (October 22) and the Curragh will stage an extra fixture on Tuesday when admission will be FREE to all racegoers.

At Navan today there are three maidens sandwiched in the middle of the card and Aidan O’Brien looks to have strong chances in all three. Certainly his debutants in the 4.05 and 4.35 won’t need to be anything special to win.

The most vulnerable of O’Brien’s runners may be the one with experience, Exact, in the 5.05.

I’m not sure he is progressing and interesting to see that in four starts he has been tried over three different distances from a mile to a mile and a half.

With an interesting Weld runner, and an Oxx debutant my nap is a lay of Exact today.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: LAY of EXACT (5.05 Navan)
