GRADED RACE ACTION AT FAIRYHOUSE: SHAMROCK concentrates on the two Graded races on the Fairyhouse card this afternoon when the ground is expected to be soft to heavy.
So much for the start of a ‘new sequence’ yesterday !! The nap was a non runner.
There are two Graded races on the card at Fairyhouse today.
1:25 Winning Fair Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 2) (4yo, Class 1, 2m, 11 runners)
Good to see a Grade 2 race kick off a card and no surprises to see that Willie Mullins has a complete stranglehold on the race. He saddles three runners who, at the time of writing, are 1st, 2nd and 3rd favourites on BETDAQ! Adriana Des Mottes is the clear favourite. The ex-French runner made a stunning start to her career in Ireland with an all-the-way win at Punchestown on New Year’s Eve when she beat Halling’s Treasure by 18 lengths. The runner-up has been placed again in two subsequent starts. Adriana Des Mottes can make the most of her fillies allowance here and I expect her to make all the running.
3:10 At The Races Bobbyjo Chase (Grade 2) (5yo+, Class 1, 3m 1f, 7 runners)
Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins have won the last three renewals between them and again would seem to have the ace cards in the pack with Mount Benbulben and On His Own respectively. Preference is for Mount Benbulben who has been given a break since a far from disgraced fourth, at 20/1, to Silviniaco Conti in the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day. On His Own was impressive last time out when winning the Thyestes at Gowran Park but the Grand National surely represents his primary target this season?
