NAVAN SATURDAY NAP: SHAMROCK naps in the opening race at Navan on Saturday – just three runners but it’s a competitive heat.

Just the three runners go to post for the opening Lynn Lodge Stud E.B.F. Median Auction Race at Navan this afternoon but it looks interesting with a relatively open market on BETDAQ.

Blood Moon might be the answer, despite being well beaten at the Curragh last time out. Blood Moon made a surprise winning debut at Dundalk when a 25/1 winner over the Aidan O’Brien trained favourite Washington DC. He then followed up that effort with a good third in heavy ground at the Curragh to State Of Emergency and returned to the track last time out but struggled in Listed company. He should be suited by the extended trip today.

Miss Elizabeth won over six furlongs on debut and is entitled to improve further but it only looked a modest maiden at Fairyhouse and through a line with the runner-up Mint Chai she looks closely matched with today’s other runner An Duine Uasal.

Blood Moon has achieved most so far though and is my nap of the day.
