CARLA THE ANSWER TO THE MUNSTER OAKS: SHAMROCK looks at the Cork card on Sunday with his nap in the Group 3 race at 4.05.

I was left with egg on my face after the three-runner race at Navan yesterday but hopefully have read the four runner Munster Oaks Stakes better at Cork this afternoon.

I think the Dermot Weld trained Carla Bianca looks a good bet on BETDAQ. She was very progressive last season winning four in a row which culminated with a Group 3 success at the Curragh. She seems versatile ground wise. However, she was disappointing on seasonal reappearance back at the Curragh when only fourth, and a well beaten one at that, behind Legatissimo but given the winner went on to win the 1000 Guineas on her next start it doesn’t look quite so bad as it did on the day! In any event, Carla Bianca should be better for that run and that’s the main factor that sways me to her instead of chief market rival Words.

Words, trained by Aidan O’Brien, holds many top class entries but that’s not unusual for runners from this stable. She hasn’t been seen since making a winning debut over seven furlongs at the Curragh almost a year ago and whilst she still ‘could be anything’ still has to prove it at this level and defy the absence.
