GROUP ACTION AT THE CURRAGH AND JUMPING AT CORK: A good day of racing in Ireland and SHAMROCK heads to the Curragh for his best bets of the day.

Two Group races on the Curragh card this afternoon:

3:45 Round Tower Stakes (Group 3) (2yo, Class 1, 6f, 7 runners)

The ground is expected to be on the softer side for the seven two-year-olds who line up for this contest over six furlongs. Like a lot of people I am eagerly awaiting the run of Smash Williams who was hugely impressive when making a winning debut over course and distance just eight days ago. He stayed on well to win by six and a half lengths and providing he handles the softer surface equally as well should prove hard to beat. Rockaway Valley beat Juliette Fair easily in a course and distance maiden in June and I expect that form to be confirmed and Rockaway Valley looks the biggest danger. He went on to finish second in a Group 2 and not disgraced fifth in the Group 1 Keenelenad Phoenix Stakes over course and distance so sets the bar quite high for Smash Williams to aim at.

4:20 Dance Design Fillies Stakes (Group 3) (3yo+, Class 1, 1m 1f, 9 runners)

This looks wide open with plenty of collateral form suggesting there is not much to choose between most of these. I napped Devonshire last time out only for her to be beaten narrowly by Algonquin in the Vincent O’Brien Ruby Stakes at Killarney. The softer ground should be to her favour today and she looks a good win and place option on BETDAQ. She is certainly up to this class having finished third to Pleascach in the Irish 1000 Guineas earlier in the year.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Smash Williams (3.45 Curragh)
