7 WINNING NAPS FROM 12: SHAMROCK landed his 7th WINNING NAP from the last 12 with FIRST FIGARO at Galway yesterday (WON 10/11) – the only nap in the sequence that has been odds-on.

Final day of the Galway Festival and it’s a bumper eight race card to bring the curtain down….

2:15 Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle (81-116) (4yo+, 2m, 18 runners)

I was grateful for the winning nap yesterday particularly as Dermot Weld was 0/3 on the day going into the bumper. He hasn’t met expectations this year at Galway but let’s face it the expectations have been set ridiculously high after his amazing achievements year after year. He runs Defining Year here who finished third to Beckwith Star on Monday. Horses reappearing twice at the Festival generally haven’t fared well and I prefer the chances of the Tony Marin trained Dollar And A Dream who was a close up third in a big field at Limerick last time out.

2:45 Galway Shopping Centre Handicap Hurdle (81-123) (4yo+, 2m 7f 128y, 21 runners)

A really strong field go to post for this and frankly it looks impossible. Redclue can only be recommended as a place bet in such an open contest. He has taken two races recently at Cartmel with ease (was eased down when beating Slipper Satin a length and a half last time out). He is up 7lb in the weights but could still be a little ahead of that.

3:20 Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. ‘Ahonoora’ Handicap (3yo+, 7f, 14 runners)

Have A Nice Day is sure to make a bold bid for the hat-trick after two wins over this trip at the Curragh. He has been hiked up a further 7lb but can reward win and place support on BETDAQ. Baraweez is back for more having been narrowly been beaten in the Topaz Mile Handicap on Tuesday and should be better suited by the 7f.

3:55 At The Races Chase (5yo+, 2m 6f 111y, 9 runners)

With three of the leading contenders now non runners Rebel Fitz is going to be a warm order for this despite having a long injury forced absence to overcome. An impressive winner of the Grade 1 Powers Gold Cup last year he followed up with wins at Listowel and Fairyhouse but then has been off the track after Mick Winters reported that he had fluid on a joint. The patience should be rewarded with what would be a great comeback prize for him.

4:30 Lord Hemphill Memorial Handicap Chase (4yo+, 2m 2f 54y, 17 runners)

I’m breaking my rule about backing one who is having his second Galway start of the week with Coldstonesober who was an excellent third to Powersbomb here on Wednesday. He had previously romped to success in a Tipperary handicap chase and this is very much his trip. A win and place bet.

5:00 JPK Fencing Handicap (50-70) (3yo+, 1m 5f 186y, 19 runners)

Whatsforuwontgobyu has been exceptionally strong in the morning BETDAQ market and looks the perfect project for this race for the Tony Martin stable. He romped home in a Sligo maiden hurdle when last seen and looks on a very fair mark for his flat handicap debut. The better ground should suit too.

5:30 Trappers Inn E.B.F. Fillies Maiden (3yo+, 1m 3f 180y, 7 runners)

Almela is exceptionally well bred and likely to go off a short price for this, in my view prohibitively short. A better proposition might be to look for place bet on BETDAQ. It’s down to a seven horse race but there are still three BETDAQ places up for grabs and Regal Beauty looks best of those with experience.

6:00 Fr. Breen Memorial (Pro-Am) Flat Race (4-7yo, 2m, 7 runners)

We’ve made it !!!! The final race of the 2015 Galway Festival which began on Monday. It’s not a bad bumper to wrap things up. Four of the seven runners were last time out winners. Preference goes to the Willie Mullins trained Fugi Mountain who won well at Sligo last time out. Captain Barbossa is unbeaten in two starts but has a double penalty to overcome.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
2.15 Dollar And A Dream
2.45 Redclue (PLACE)
