THREE OUT OF THREE: A massive weekend for Irish racing and SHAMROCK kicked off in the best possible style on Saturday with THREE OUT OF THREE on his recommended bets. Now for Irish Champion Hurdle Day at Leopardstown.

It’s fair to say that the Mullins Ascot project paid off in style yesterday.

His two raiders were short priced individually but in a BETDAQ MULTIPLES DOUBLE combined at a more juicy 2.74. That’s around 7/4 – the SP double weighed in at 6/4.

In fairness, they both won in the style of horses that could have been even SHORTER in the market.

Yesterday’s bets were:

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Un De Sceaux (3.00 Ascot) WON 1/2
NEXT BEST: Vroum Vroum Mag (1.50 Ascot) WON 4/6
DAQ MULTIPLES: Double the above two WON 7/4 (approx BETDAQ MULTIPLES odds at time of writing)

Will the Mullins monopoly continued today at Leopardstown on Irish Champion Hurdle Day. In all probability you’d have to say yes….

There are three Graded races on the card:

1:20 Nathaniel Lacy & Partners Solicitors ‘25,000 Cheltenham Bonus For Stable Staff’ Novice Hurdle (Grade 2) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m 4f, 6 runners)

I managed to nap A Toi Phil on his Irish debut at Clonmel which proved a disaster as he veered left and unseated Patrick Mullins at the start 🙁 There were no signs of any quirkiness next time out here at Leopardstown over Christmas when he won a maiden hurdle in good style. It looked an above average race too with the favourite Vigil back in third – he was good enough to finish fifth in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival. This is obviously tougher but A Toi Phil is bidding to give Mullins a FIFTH straight win in this race and is napped to do so. Woodland Opera looks the danger and was eased when beaten in a Grade 1 – this will be easier for him and the step up in trip should suit.

1:55 Frank Ward Solicitors Arkle Novice Chase (Grade 1) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m 1f, 3 runners)

Un De Sceaux won this last year and he turned out all right!!! Douvan will be a lot shorter – around 1.09 on BETDAQ to see off his two rivals as he bids to go on and win the Arkle just like ‘UDS’. He has 17lb in hand on his nearest rival on official figures and he looks just as good over fences as he was over hurdles and remains unbeaten in six combined starts.

3:05 BHP Insurances Irish Champion Hurdle (Grade 1) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m, 5 runners)

Sorry for the lack of originality but it’s a Mullins clean sweep with Faugheen to land the feature. Many of course will be reminiscent today of the great Hurricane Fly who won this for the last five seasons but Faugheen is very much at the forefront of the Mullins new guard. The reigning Champion Hurdler has only tasted defeat once in 12 starts, that was at the hands of today’s chief rival and stable companion Nichols Canyon in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown despite Faugheen going off a 1/6 chance he failed by half a length. It was Faugheen’s first race of the season and he got right back on track with an impressive win in the Chrtistmas Hurdle at Kempton and it’s revenge time today.

The BETDAQ MULTIPLES treble on the three pays around 3.03.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: A TOI PHIL (1.20 Leopardstown)
NEXT BEST: FAUGHEEN (1.55 Leopardstown)
TREBLE: Above two with DOUVAN (1.55 Leopardstown)
