7/4 WINNER FROM TWO BETS ON SATURDAY: SHAMROCK now previews the two Grade 2 races on Sunday’s card at Naas.

Slightly frustrating day yesterday even though one winner at 7/4 from two tips can hardly be called a bad day.

I was right in taking on odds-on favourite Vercingetorix in the opener at Fairyhouse but low and behold the nap Lettre De Cachet could only finish second to the outsider of three Gwencily Berbas.

Later in the afternoon the next best, Roi Du Mee, saved the day when winning the At The Races Bobbyjo Chase for the second time in three years at 7/4. He looked beaten after the last fence but rallied in game style to win by half a length.

Two Grade 2 races on the Naas card today:

3:20 PP Shops Better Value Novice Hurdle (Grade 2) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m, 6 runners)

Max Dynamite was brushed aside by the improving Kitten Rock at Limerick last time out and may have to play second fiddle again, this time to the more experienced Modem who ran an excellent race last time out behind Katie T in a competitive handicap hurdle at Leopardstown.

3:50 PP Your Local Betting Shop Chase (Grade 2) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m, 5 runners)

It was hard not to be taken by the win of Mallowney in the Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse last time out and he can plunder another big prize here. There’s little to choose between the top three on the racecard but Mallowney comes into it with the best recent form.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Mallowney (3.50 Naas)
NEXT BEST: Modem (3.20 Naas)
