IRISH CESAREWITCH DAY AT NAVAN: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the card at Navan on Sunday. As well as the Irish Cesarewitch at 5.15pm there are three Listed races. At Limerick the feature race is the JT McNamara Ladbrokes Munster National Handicap Chase at 4.25pm.

A big day of both flat and jumps racing today at Navan and Limerick.

The JT McNamara Ladbrokes Munster National Handicap Chase at Limerick looks typically competitive with 16 runners set to take on the three mile course on expected soft ground.

I’m sticking with Arkwrisht who I put up as a place bet in the Kerry National and he ran a cracker to finish a half length second to Potters Point. A shocking mistake three out could well have cost him victory that day as his rider lost an iron and it was a shame as his jumping is gradually getting better.

He’s up 7lb in the weights but the Joseph O’Brien trained runner may still be able to find some improvement and is the pick of the stables three runners in the race.

Aidan O’Brien dominates the Listed Staffordstown Stud Stakes at Navan with three of the seven runners and his trio are also the top-three rated in the race on official ratings.

Preference is for Bye Bye Baby who had her field well strung out when winning her maiden at Newmarket and will relish the extra furlong here.

Sizzling has much more experience, including at Group level, and holds the the other stablemate Ballet Shoes narrowly on Naas form last time out.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Bye Bye Baby (4.45 Navan)
NEXT BEST (WIN and PLACE): Arkwrisht (4.25 Limerick)
