RACING AND NAPS ON HOLD: SHAMROCK looks back on the action at Naas on Monday. No racing in Ireland on Tuesday.

Really disappointing run from Birchwood yesterday who only finished third of four in the Listed sprint at Naas. The race was won by the Ger Lyons trained Argentero with the outsider Galway Bay in second.

Lyons said: “It was a good, brave performance. He’s got a great attitude and a great temperament. He’s still not got the ground he wants, as he wants good ground. I wasn’t disappointed the last day as I knew how much Jim Bolger thought of his horse. We probably have the second best colt in Ireland, so we’ll let him go to Ascot and we’ll go for the Railway Stakes. The plan has always been to come here and then go for the Railway Stakes.”

I’m afraid the run of naps came to a (hopefully) temporary halt.

There’s no racing in Ireland on Tuesday, action resumes at Punchestown on Wednesday evening when hopefully I can land the 16th nap from 26 (61%) in the current sequence with the winners being:
