ANNIE LIKELY TO GO MARES ROUTE: Willie Mullins is thinking of running Annie Power in the OLBG Mares’ Hurdle rather than the Champion Hurdle or World Hurdle.

The Cheltenham Festival jigsaw continues to be pieced together and Willie Mullin’s is likely to send Annie Power to the OLBG MAres’ Hurdle rather than the Champion Hurdle or another crack at the Ladbrokes World Hurdle in which she lost her unbeaten record last season when beaten by More Of That.

Mullins told the Irish Times: “Annie is fine and back riding out, and the mares’ (hurdle) looks the most likely race for her.”

Annie Power has only had one race since Cheltenham – that was at the Punchestown Festival where she made all the running to win the Mares Champion Hurdle at prohibitive odds of 1/6.

At the moment there are no problems ahead of the big card at Thurles tomorrow despite some snow overnight. The going is soft, soft to heavy in places with a forecast of heavy rain today clearing to showers tomorrow.
