SNOW GO: DOWN ROYAL have called off their meeting on Wednesday and Clonmel looks bleak for Thursday.

No Irish racing today and tomorrow’s meeting at Down Royal has already been called off due to frost.

The track was due to stage a seven-race card but officials concluded there is little chance of the track being fit to race after temperatures dropped well below freezing overnight.

A statement from the Irish Turf Club said: “The Turf Club has announced that the fixture scheduled for Down Royal on Wednesday, February 4 has been cancelled due to frost.

“The temperature at Down Royal is presently minus 6C and is not set to rise during today, while another severe frost is predicted overnight.”

Meanwhile prospects look bleak for Clonmel on Thursday. Parts of the course are frozen in places and the situation being monitored.

It looks likely that the next Irish race meeting will be Dundalk on Friday evening.
