FAIRYHOUSE NAP: SHAMROCK heads to Fairyhouse on Wednesday where they have a seven race card starting at 1.10. He bids for his fourth winning nap from the last five.
Altiepix looks to have a solid chance returning to hurdles in the 1.40 but his price has got a little skinny. Price has to dictate, at 1.9 on BETDAQ I’m betting – at 1.5 no thank you. Of course, I’m not saying he won’t win – I expect him to – but just like buying a pair of jeans there becomes a price point where you are just not interested. It doesn’t alter the fact that they are still a nice pair of jeans !!
I usually avoid ‘beginners chases’ (the clue is in the first word) but on a tough day to spot winners will take a chance with Balbir Du Mathan who got his jumping together at Leopardstown last time out having fallen on his jumps debut at Fairyhouse.
He showed form in France on the flat and could easily be a class apart from these. Although beaten eight lengths by Le Vent D’Antan it was a solid effort and he is preferred to chief market rival Thunder At Roses who was a faller here last time out and whose jumping skills have a question mark.
And I’m getting around evens on BETDAQ which is well within my price range. If he wins, I might just buy that pair of jeans after all.
