BELLEWSTOWN NAP: SHAMROCK highlights a horse at Bellewstown tonight with proven experience in mud which will be needed on the expected soft ground.

A disappointing effort from yesterday’s NAP, Creative Talent, who finished third at 15/8 at Ballinrobe.

I couldn’t understand why the jockey at the start was originally planning to race prominently, then the starter asked them to take a turn and he was still prominent and then asked them to take a further turn and he had him lined up towards the back. Sometimes the seemingly smallest things can make a massive difference and having to make up ground on testing ground is alway a worry.

Hopefully better luck at Bellewstown where the going, like Ballinrobe yesterday, is also likely to be soft.

There’s an eight race flat card, underway at 3.55pm.

Nutini has shown good form in races much better than this. He has improved on both of his two starts since his Leopardstown debut and looks to have a major chance to get off the mark in the claiming maiden at 4.25pm.

Trained by Madeleine Tylicki, he finished fourth at Dundalk last time out to the Aidan O’Brien trained De Coronado but has no experience on soft ground.

In contrast, the mare My Painter looks throughly exposed form wise but does at least have proven ability in the mud and certainly is preferred today.

It will be interesting to see how the market develops. At 11am there was little to choose between Nutini and My Painter at around 2.6 the pair on BETDAQ.
