SHAMROCK HEADS TO SLIGO: His best bet runs in the Connacht Derby Handicap at 7.00 and is currently trading at around 5.6 on BETDAQ.

The nap was a non runner in the end last night.

Sligo stage a seven race card tonight starting with a maiden at 5.30 and I wouldn’t think Jim Bolger’s debutant Vocal Nation needs to be anything exceptional to make a winning start. She has plenty of speed, as well as stamina, in her pedigree and is preferred to the Kevin Condon trained Enter The Priory who although second on her debut at Down Royal was comprehensively beaten eight and a half lengths by Belle Et Bete.

I’m trying juicier odds for the nap tonight and like the look of Spring Focus in the 10 furlong handicap at 7.00.

Trained by Andrew Oliver, Spring Focus is continuing to run well and was an excellent second to Sophie’s World at the Galway Festival last week over a slightly shorter trip. The handicapper raised him 7lb following a win over this trip at Leopardstown last month but I think he is still more than capable of winning off this higher mark.

Biggest danger could come from the Ger Lyons trained Third Dimension who is a class dropper having finished above halfway in the 30 runner Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot.
