SHAMROCK’S KILLARNEY NAP: Trading at around 5.0 on the BETDAQ market runs in the 5.50 race on the third day of the Killarney Festival.

Two Irish meetings on Wednesday. Killarney’s July Festival continues at 5.50pm and there’s a late afternoon jumps meeting at Downpatrick starting at 3.05pm.

There will be a very short-priced favourite in Killarney’s Ladbrokes Ireland Maiden Hurdle at 8pm. The Joseph O’Brien trained Oathkeeper was the very easy winner of a bumper over 2m 4f at Listowel last time out and over the same trip should make a winning start over hurdles but the price will be prohibitive and reflective on the modest level of opposition.

The opening maiden over 1m 6f is dominated by Aidan O’Brien with the debutant Crocodile Shoes and his two other runners Successor and Three Star General in a race in which he has an exceptional record.

However, the value may lie with the John Oxx trained Sea Of Mystery who might just relish this step up in trip and appeals at around 5 on the BETDAQ market at the time of writing.

A son of Sea The Stars, he was no match for Motherland (Aidan O’Brien) at Roscommon last time but holds another of tonight rivals Lazio on that form and has plenty of experience now.
