OSCAR TO BEAT BORIS: Racing resumes in Ireland on Wednesday with a seven race card at Punchestown. SHAMROCK’S best bet of the day runs in the maiden hurdle at 2.35.

Oscar Knight is trading as favourite on BETDAQ for the 2.35 (at around 2.35 appropriately enough!) and quite rightly so in my opinion.

He remains a maiden after six starts (bumpers and hurdles) but has run two solid races in finishing second at Fairyhouse and over today’s trip here at Punchestown last time when he had the highly touted flat recruit Open Eagle back in third.

It all adds up to pretty solid form and he is preferred to main market rival Boris De Blae, a point winner, who made an encouraging debut at Fairyhouse when a 13 length second to Fine Theatre.

That was a good effort and he should improve, but the profile of Oscar Knight looks superior and his experience may also help.

Inch Rise belied odds of 40/1 to make an encouraging jumps debut at Gowran Park when fourth to Cliff House. He should improve for that but I’m not certain the step up to 2m 4f is necessarily going to suit.
