Punjab Kings v Sunrisers Hyderabad

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a massive game on Tuesday for Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the IPL on Betdaq Betting Exchange. Both sides sit beside each other in the table with two wins from four games; they also still have the likes of Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru who have a good record of reaching the playoffs. Granted they have both being having poor times over the last few years. It’s still early days in the IPL, but you’d have to say the loser of this fixture will be massively on the backfoot. Neither of these sides are top three sides; they are both basically fighting for that final playoff spot.

Sunrisers Hyderabad recorded a nice win over CSK last Friday, and that would have been a nice confidence booster. Their bowling has been poor at times, but they managed to keep CSK down to just 165/5 which was an impressive display given the score of 277/3 at Hyderabad in the first game there! Their batting has been very good; even in the KKR loss they still scored over 200. Pat Cummins did much better against CSK; he obviously leads the attack and it helped that they changed up the bowlers a little too. It will be interesting to see do they employ the same tactics here.

Punjab Kings come into this game off the back of a dramatic win over Gujarat Titans, chasing down 199/4. Although they won that game, they definitely need Rabada to bowl better – he leads the attack. Patel went around the park too. They’ve actually done well to win twice; the openers have only put it together once and the middle order collapsed after they got out. They could have a very strong batting line-up but three/four is a worry in their line-up.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

This is the second game in Mullanpur; Punjab’s new home. We saw a pretty high scoring game here in the first game as Delhi Capitals posted 174/9 and Punjab chased it down in the final over with four balls to spare. Given this is a new venue, I would still go into this game with an open mind on conditions. You’d have to assume both sides will target the short square boundary too. It is a shame that a new ground doesn’t have any shade from the sun in the stands for the fans, but everyone is well aware now after the ODI World Cup that the fan experience at cricket in India isn’t the best. It doesn’t stop them selling out most games though!

RECOMMENDED BET:

We have two pretty even sides here. Both have their flaws and their strong points; it isn’t a surprise to see a relatively even market. Sunrisers Hyderabad are the favourites at 1.88 and I feel there’s a little bit of value on offer in that price. Neither side has good bowling in my opinion; it’s worth taking on both sides while bowling in my opinion but the major difference in that three/four/five area in the Punjab Kings batting. They are still working out who plays where; but for the time being it looks weak and that’s the area that wins the game for Hyderabad in my opinion.

The Edge Says:
One point win Sunrisers Hyderabad to beat Punjab Kings at 1.88 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

This is still a very new ground; the side who won the toss bowled first in the opening game here because they weren’t sure of conditions. With that in mind, it’s hard to form an in-running strategy here when we aren’t 100% sure of conditions. I do think the batters will beat the bowlers, just because both sets of bowlers haven’t been great and they are worth taking on. As I mentioned above, I think Punjab will struggle with that three/four/five position and that’s a good time to open a trade on Hyderabad.
