Rajasthan Royals v Gujarat Titans

MATCH OVERVIEW:

Jos Buttler’s Rajasthan Royals are back in action on Wednesday at the IPL as they face Gujarat Titans on Betdaq Betting Exchange. Rajasthan Royals went top of the table after going four from four last weekend with a brilliant century from Buttler to beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru. It’s pretty rare to see two centuries in a T20, Virat Kohli scored one as RCB posted 183/3 but the key difference was Kohli’s strike rate was 156.94 while for Buttler it was 172.41. He’s just unstoppable when he’s in that form, and the Royals will be hoping for more of the same here.

Rajasthan Royals have come shooting out of the blocks only to fade away as the tournament goes on before – they won four of their opening five games last season before only finishing in fifth. They’ve been in the playoff mix for a few years now though, they last has a blowout season back in 2021. It will be interesting to see what type of performance we get from Gujarat here; in their opening two seasons as a franchise everything was plain sailing. Made two Finals, won once. This year they are without some of those key players that brought success, and now they have lost three of their five games.

They are in the trenches this time around, and it’ll be interesting to see how they deal with that. They were comfortably beaten by Lucknow Super Giants at the weekend; their batting collapsed for 130 all out trying to chase down 163/5. Their batting does look light this IPL; and you’d have to say Kane Williamson isn’t a great T20 selection. An interesting afternoon awaits!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Rajasthan have already played a lot of home games compared to some other sides. This will be the four game here, and so far scoring has been pretty high. Batting conditions are usually good here, and we can get a heavy dew which is always a nightmare for the bowlers. In years gone by you’d always want to bat second here because of the dew but that has changed a little in recent years; now it’s more even – possibly given the added run rate pressure in the chases. The three first inning scores have been; 193/4 (won), 185/5 (won) and 183/3 (chased). I wouldn’t see batting or bowling first as an edge here at the moment, the only thing to say is if you do bat first, you have to go big.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Rajasthan Royals are the clear favourites here at 1.77. That’s a big favourite in the IPL because usually we see pretty even markets, but I still feel that the 1.77 offers value and it’s worth a confident bet in my opinion. Gujarat have been over all the place recently, and they are there for the taking. I know they are having selection issues, but Kane Williamson is not an elite T20 player these days and surely they must know by now in T20 the “holder role” is gone. Even in recent Virat Kohli knocks for RCB his strike rate has been questioned, and he’s one of the world’s best. Rajasthan have everything going for them here, and I’m happy to support them at 1.77.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

I don’t see a massive edge to batting or bowling first here – I expect good batting conditions in both innings to be honest. The game won’t be won by conditions, it will be exceptional play. The best in-running angle I see here is taking on the Gujarat batting – I’m also keen to take on Kane Williamson if he plays again. I feel Gujarat don’t know their best batting line-up so I would expect changes again, but it’s not working at the moment and Rajasthan Royals are in superb form.
