India v New Zealand

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have the final Champions Trophy Group game on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as India meet New Zealand on Sunday. The Champions Trophy format has been exceptionally cut-throat; it’s just the way it always was. It’s a little unfortunate that the top spots have been decided before the final group games this weekend. It’s also presented a “unsatisfactory” situation here in the sense that these two sides will start the game knowing who finished first and second in the other group, meaning that they could easily “want” to lose this game rather than win and top the group. That’s not an ideal situation!

As things stand, New Zealand top the group on net run rate after both sides won their two games. Whatever happens we’re bound to have two excellent Semi-Finals next week, and it’ll be interesting to see who matches up with who after this game. With India such hot favourites for the tournament, Pakistan v New Zealand in the opening game of the tournament was always a de-facto Quarter-Final. The thinking was India would beat everyone and Bangladesh would finish last. The market is still expecting that to be the case with India favourites.

It will be interesting to see does either side opt to rest any players here given they are both already through. New Zealand have had to travel from Pakistan over to Dubai, and they’ll have to travel back to Pakistan again while India have the advantage of playing all their games in Dubai. An interesting games awaits us.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We’ve had plenty of rain in Pakistan this week and it has had a huge impact on the other group. Pakistan were probably happy they didn’t have to play Bangladesh in this group however given both sides were already out! At least in Dubai the weather is set fair. It’s actually been tougher scoring conditions in Dubai compared to Pakistan during the Champions Trophy – India have bowled twice so it might be interesting to see what they could post if they batted first. So far we’ve had 228 and 241 chased without too much drama.

RECOMMENDED BET:

I would definitely keep stakes on the low sides here until we see the team news. As I mentioned above, this is a chance for the sides to rest players given the situation – it’s worth thinking about the travel from a New Zealand point of view too. India come into the game as the favourites at 1.5, and they haven’t put a foot wrong so far – you could easily say the same about New Zealand though who have done well in conditions in Pakistan. India seem to have every base covered though; and it’s a massive advantage playing all your cricket at one venue. I’m happy with a small bet on India at the odds.

The Edge Says:
One point win India to beat New Zealand at 1.5 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY

I would keep an open mind heading into this game. It’s hard to have a set in-running plan given the scores we have had here. It’s definitely been tougher to bat here compared to Pakistan, but of course India have bowled first twice and they are tournament favourites. I’d definitely keep an eye on the team news with a view to the market moving there as well. I would keep stakes small in this game, but I would lean towards the side who bowls first given conditions.
