MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Caribbean Premier League continues on Thursday and we kick off the day with Barbados Tridents against St Lucia Zouks. Barbados got off to a winning start on day 1 of the tournament with a very promising performance against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. They lost early wickets but as I noted on paper, their lower order is good and will score plenty of runs during the tournament. If their top order fires then they should be able to get a pretty high score.

St Lucia Zouks impressed with their early batting in their opening fixture on Wednesday, Jamaica won the toss and put them in to bat. They didn’t finish off strongly however – they were 116/3 before losing a wicket at 14.2 overs only to finish 158/7. As I have been saying, a reasonably par score. They had every chance to win too after taking two early wickets, but they gave it away again with some poor bowling. They just can’t defend scores! At one point they were conceding 12 an over in the middle overs.

Barbados have a much stronger squad and Rashid was electric in the opening game. Another bowling display like that will see Barbados win plenty of matches and Rashid man of the tournament.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As we have seen in the game so far, spin is playing a big part. It’s very early days, but you might suggest that batting in the early game is a little easier than the late game. It is very early days to have an opinion like that though, however it’s something to have in the back of your mind. Last night’s late game was very low scoring with plenty of wickets falling.

You’d have to expect a par score to be around 160 again and anything higher than that being very difficult to chase. We have had some minor rain worries, but we’ve also been a long way away from not having a game.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Once again I’m very happy to be against the Zouks here, especially with Barbados looking so strong. They lost early wickets in their opening game but were still too good for St Kitts. They were able to defend a score of 153 too which is pretty impressive. At the moment, you’d have to say that’s a little below par although after seeing last night’s fixture maybe the scores will come down today. As is always the way, the bowling usually wins these T20 leagues and Barbados have an excellent bowling line-up. They should outclass this poor Zouks side who just can’t seem to get their bowling right.

The Edge Says:
Three points win Barbados Tridents to beat St Lucia Zouks at 1.6 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

The Zouks batting started off very strongly in their opening fixture, so that is definitely an angle to pick up on. They traded down towards 1.5 from a starting price of around 2.8 with that good start, only to give it away as the tail failed to score. On paper, it looks like their bowling is light and we could see them trade odds on and lose quite a lot this season. That’s probably the best trading angle in this game.

From a Barbados point of view, you clearly want to be with them when the spinners come on and they also shown in the first game that they have a tail with plenty of runs. The best trading angle might be a good Zouks start, with Barbados trading at a good price and coming to win the game. Once again, keep an eye on the conditions today – it seems to be getting worse for batting.
