MATCH OVERVIEW:
The IPL continues on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Gujarat Titans clash with Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday! Obviously we’re getting to the business end of the group stage now and we have massive games coming thick and fast. Mumbai Indians v Delhi Capitals was a huge game in the race for that fourth spot on Wednesday, and now this game will have an impact on the top of the table as Gujarat Titans sit top. This IPL has been exceptionally competitive at the top half of the table, so getting into those top two spots and getting two chances at the final is going to be a big edge.
Gujarat Titans have a one point advantage over Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings coming into the final two games, and this is a game that they can’t afford to lose given that Lucknow Super Giants have been quite average this season. They have been a mid-table side – not as good as the playoff sides but better than the bottom three of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. It actually looked like Lucknow might have a decent shot at the playoffs but they have played poor cricket for the last few weeks. They come into this game having lost their last four, and five of their last six.
The last four games have been pretty heavy defeats too; 8 wickets (13 balls spare), 54 runs, 37 runs and 6 wickets (10 balls spare). Gujarat Titans have been very strong all tournament – as their place at the top of the table shows. Ironically, one of their three defeats came against Lucknow Super Giants back towards the start of April!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We’re back in the world’s biggest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad, and we have plenty of cricket left here. We have two more home games for Gujarat Titans before having Qualifier 2 and then the Final. This stadium is still relatively new, and so far since Covid19 we’ve had basically two types of conditions – a flat wicket mainly in T20 cricket, and spinning wicket mainly in Test cricket. Scoring conditions have been very good at this IPL though, the first inning scores have been; 243/5 (won), 196/8 (won), 217/6 (won), 203/8 (chased) and 224/6 (won). I think you bat first here and pile on the runs.
RECOMMENDED BET:
It’s no surprise to see Gujarat Titans as the heavy favourites here. There has been quite a gulf in class between the sides at this tournament, and Lucknow Super Giants look woefully out of form coming into this tie as well. Gujarat will know conditions well here, and their batting line-up has been ultra-impressive as well. By IPL standards, a price of 1.61 is quite a red-hot favourite in a tournament with so much talent amongst all the teams – but I feel this time the 1.61 offers good value and is worth a confident bet.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Judging by the scores here this season, you’d have to go into this game expecting a high scoring game and mainly looking for trades on either batting side. Batting conditions have been fantastic, and it’s paid to bat first and pile on the runs. Chasing is in vogue in T20 cricket these days so it’ll be interesting to see what the winning captain does. I’d definitely have less confidence in the Lucknow batting compared to the Gujarat batting – I feel the game will be won by the Gujarat batting – I’d be very happy to support them if they batted first.
