4th T20 INDIA v ENGLAND: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Thursday’s 4th T20 between INDIA v ENGLAND with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The pressure is on India as they go into the 4th T20 2-1 down after a Joe Buttler special saw England win the 3rd T20. We can enjoy 0% Commission on this game as all bets are 0% Commission on BETDAQ during the Cheltenham Festival and Saturday, when the 5th T20 is pencilled in so we have a couple of excellent days ahead. India have their work cut out to win the series now as it’s hard to see the England batting failing twice – however it has been a clear advantage bowling first, so perhaps the toss will go a long way to deciding the series.

India have a lot of work to do, as Kohli finished not out on 77 in the 3rd T20 before England chasing down the total with ten balls to spare. Kohli went at a strike rate of 167 too, so it wasn’t like he was batting slow. This England side has definitely adjusted to the conditions better than the Test side, and Jofra Archer and Mark Wood have been excellent with the ball. You feel that India have to bowl first to have their best opportunity to win – England’s batting is strong, but perhaps a total to aim at is better for India.

As I noted above, the team chasing has won three from three here and you’d have to bowl first if you won the toss. Based on what we have seen in the series so far, there isn’t much between the sides – perhaps England have proven a little stronger given their bowling is in good form. However, with so little between the sides the advantage of bowling first might be the difference.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The England captain Eoin Morgan said his side was surprised by the carry they got in the pitch on Tuesday. They had been expecting a slow and low turner. It’s early days for this wicket after all the works to the ground, and the best option is to keep an open mind before each game at the moment. I noted before the 3rd T20 that I was expecting a spinning wicket but to keep an open mind – then I saw the carry and had to change opinion quickly. Batting second has definitely been an advantage, and I think the decision at the toss is a no brainer for the captains. If I was forced to bat first, the target should be 175 but batting has definitely been tricky and you run the risk of falling way short if you aim too high.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We landed our bet on England in the 3rd T20, and I’m happy to back them again here at 2.1. England have been very impressive in this T20 series, but India are a superb side and have home conditions. I really believe each T20 is more or less very close to 50/50, and England offer value for me at 2.1 before the off. Given what we have saw in the first three T20’s, I’d be more keen to get on the team bowling first but before the off its England at 2.1 for me.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Given we have all five T20’s here, that creates some interesting angles for in-running trading. The pitch surprised me in the 3rd T20, but it was still an advantage to bowl first and I have to say that will be my main in-running strategy here. I don’t expect a very low score batting first, but there’s a lot of advantage to batting second plus you have the added bonus of dew too. Even Kohli finishing not out wasn’t good enough for India to win batting first the last day.

Roy failed in the 3rd T20 but Buttler got India. I wouldn’t be keen going against the England openers whether they bat first or second – their lower order hasn’t had much game time and that might be an angle if the chance arrives. India’s middle order looks rock solid and they will more than likely score most of their runs. There’s no doubt Sharma and Rahul are dangerous at the top of the Indian order, but they could be worth taking on as they look out of form and England’s new ball bowlers are in excellent form.
