MATCH OVERVIEW:

We’re now into the final third of the IPL 2020 and it’s been an incredible tournament to date! Kings XI Punjab were involved in one of the two ties on Sunday, and not only did they tie the game, they tied the first Super Over! They eventually won the second Super Over and have moved away from the bottom of the table. With Chris Gayle bringing new life to the side, maybe their chances of a Playoff spot aren’t totally gone. After the weekend though, there seems to be a gap between the top four and bottom four.

Delhi Capitals are away from all the drama, happily sitting at the top of the table with seven wins from nine games. They have been excellent, and they have the strongest bowling line-up in the tournament. They comfortably beat CSK in Sharjah at the weekend, with Dhawan scoring 101 not out. That’s a huge boost them, as before that score and his 50 in the game before, he had been the only top order batsmen not performing.

Delhi look rock solid, with Rabada and Ashwin leading the bowlers, along with Stoinis finishing off the innings well – they have everything going for them at the moment. The big question is can everyone stay in form with another few weeks left in the tournament. Kings XI did very well to tie with Mumbai and I think Gayle will give them confidence. They really need Maxwell to improve though – he was out for 0 the weekend and is having a pretty poor tournament.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Kings XI tied 176/6 with Mumbai here at the weekend, while in the day game the day before that RCB chased down 177/6 with a masterclass from AB de Villiers. I think around 170 looks bang on par based on what we’ve seen so far, with the chasing team having to bat well to get there. I would still favour batting first to get the best batting conditions. With the wickets slowing as the tournament goes on, I’d expect another first innings score in and around the 170 mark. Once again, the weather is set fair.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s obvious that Chris Gayle has brought new life to Punjab, although in fairness they were never playing exceptionally bad cricket – they’ve just been losing close game and bowling poorly. They should be a tough test for Delhi, but I can’t see past the table toppers here at 1.81. Delhi have an exceptionally better bowling line-up compared to Punjab, and with both sides in form with the bat – it’s the Delhi bowling that will win this game.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

We could have plenty of in-running BETDAQ betting exchange drama in this one! Punjab have some very talented batters, especially at the top of the order and we should see some big market moves whoever comes out on top. I fancy the Delhi new ball bowlers to edge it and win the battle, but the market will swing quickly either way when the Punjab top three are batting. As for the lower order, I would be against the Punjab lower order with Maxwell out of form.

The opposite applies to Delhi, as their lower order has been in good form. With Punjab bowling poorly recently, I would definitely support the Delhi lower order even if they lost a few early wickets. So far the sweet spot has been to get on the team batting first in the final five overs here, but they need to arrive there with the right platform and wickets in hand.
