THE HUNDRED 💯: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s The Hundred format game between Welsh Fire v Southern Brave with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Hundred hits Wales for the first time on Tuesday as Welsh Fire take on Southern Brave in Cardiff. It’s early days in the tournament, this will be only the 8th match, however Southern Brave find themselves bottom of the table after a big defeat in their opening game against Trent Rockets. They were hammered, and their net run rate really puts them on the backfoot, even so early in the tournament.

On the other hand, Welsh Fire were pretty impressive in their opening game. They managed to score 173/4 which was the highest score in the first week. They will be opening their good batting continues, but I’m sure whatever happens we’ll have plenty of in-running swings on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. I think we’re getting to grips with the new format now, and it’s been very enjoyable so far. We will have the T20 Blast debate for the whole tournament from the press box, but it’s been good cricket to watch so far.

This is an excellent chance for Welsh Fire to make it two from two. They have home advantage, and the Southern Brave batting looks poor on paper. James Vince probably bats too slow for this format, and they lacked a star in the first game. They desperately need Quinton de Kock to fire now he has finished International duty with South Africa. Welsh Fire have to improve their bowling a little, but you can’t fault their batting.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We saw a huge range of scores the weekend, so I would go into this game with an open mind. It’s the first game at this ground too, so we don’t even have that little bit of experience from one game here. The UK has been having a heat wave and we saw how dry some pitches have become the weekend. It can get very dry in Cardiff too, so watch out for how slow the wicket is early, and if we see any spin. I would personally bat first if I won the toss, it definitely offers the best batting conditions in my view.

RECOMMENDED BET:

I know we’ve had a lot of open markets in this tournament, and why not in such a new format, however I don’t agree with the market here. I would have Welsh Fire decent favourites over Southern Brave. One thing to look for here is whether Quinton de Kock plays, as he finished International duty on Saturday and he was in Belfast, so won’t need to isolate – he needs to help the Southern Brave batting, but after him I feel it’s very weak and the Welsh Fire look much stronger here. The 1.91 is too big.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I mentioned above, you really want to watch out for what type of wicket we’ll get here. After seeing the range of scores the weekend, who knows what type of pitch we’ll see. It can get quite dry and slow here, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a tricky wicket. This game is actually pretty tricky for in-running trading, because usually you’d want to get on the team batting first on a spinning wicket but I would assume the team batting first will aim too high and fall short under pressure.

Whoever bats first, I will be keen to get against the Southern Brave batting, after do Kock is out if he plays, because they looked very poor in their first game and they are also a little lacking of talent on paper too.
