MATCH OVERVIEW:

Guyana Amazon Warriors made light work of the Barbados Tridents last night and they will be hoping for a quick follow up victory here. This is a massive game for the Zouks as they are two points ahead of Guyana in the table with a game in hand. With another two points back to Jamaica, if the Zouks win tonight they would go a very long way to locking down second position. They’d have to lose both of their last two games and the others would need to win every game.

Guyana bowled Barbados out for 92 last night. They actually had them eight down for 27 runs! It’s always been tough to bat in the night games here but that was just very poor from Barbados. Guyana bowled very well though, and if they can repeat that bowling performance then the Zouks will have a tough night – but they might score more then 92 runs!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

You’d have to expect another low scoring affair tonight. All the night games have been reasonable tough to bat and we can expect more tough conditions. Yesterday we returned to the Brian Lara Stadium after a break and Trinbago scored 184 in the early game. The early games haven’t been a true reflection of batting conditions at night though, and you should definitely take the first three overs to see what conditions are like. I would expect par is probably around 130 and given that it seems to get incredibly tough to bat as the day goes on, that would be a reasonably tough chase.

One major issues we’ve had with teams batting first is that they aim too high and then fall short. Of course this is easier said than done when batting is a nightmare, but you really want to go slow and steady and build a score rather than smash sixes from the word go.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Don’t get me wrong Guyana played well last night and although they haven’t been as good as last season, they have been decent in the tournament to date. Way better than the likes of Barbados and Jamaica. This will be a tough test for the Zouks, but I have to back them at the odds. Guyana are trading 1.75 and I feel that is just too short in a game like this. I see the game as a totally 50/50 game. The Zouks had a bad name coming into the tournament with poor past performances but they have gelled very well this season and have been performing to a very good standard. They are second for a reason and they are value at the odds.

The Edge Says:
One point win St Lucia Zouks to beat Guyana Amazon Warriors at 2.24 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As noted above, the night games have been extremely difficult for batting. Bar a few wonderful innings most batsmen have really struggled. Clearly it’s better to look for trades on the bowling side with this in mind, as a wicket is never far away. It’s definitely an interesting angle that the teams batting first have been aiming too high and fallen short – because the natural thing to do is want to be on the team batting first when conditions are tough. I would look for trades on both bowling sides.

Guyana have a stronger bowling line-up than the Zouks, but I believe that the Zouks have a better batting line-up. They managed to put up 144/7 here against Guyana when the sides met earlier in the tournament and they kept Guyana down to 134/8 in the chase. We could easily see a very similar game looking at the sides on paper.
