FA CUP FOURTH ROUND: The Striker previews MANCHESTER UNITED v LEICESTER with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MANCHESTER UNITED V LEICESTER
8pm The FA Cup Fourth Round kicks off on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with Friday Night Football as Manchester United host Leicester. The Manchester United saga continues to rumble on; they’ve been in the news this week mainly because Marcus Rashford has gone to Aston Villa, but they suffered yet another defeat at the weekend at home to Crystal Palace. They come into this game trading as the red-hot favourites, but you’d have to say that it would take a brave punter to be backing United at short odds given their current run. They lost a huge player in Lisandro Martinez through injury at the weekend too; he was someone who always gave 100%, and let’s be honest – the same can’t be said about this United squad in recent years.
You could quite easily say this about Manchester United at any stage over the last number of years – but the behaviour of the board has been bizarre. They back Erik ten Hag with millions during the summer, sack him and bring in one of the most sought after managers around the world, then it appears they haven’t backed him in this transfer window at all. The whole Rashford situation was bizarre too; he didn’t look well-kept signing for Aston Villa so I’m sure getting him out of Old Trafford is likely a win for Ruben Amorim. Nevertheless, Amorim has a squad that doesn’t have the talent to deliver his system. It’s going to be a long season for United fans.
As I said above, United come into this game as the red-hot favourites. They are trading as short as 1.37 with Leicester 9.4 and the draw is 5.9 at the time of writing. It’s a return of Ruud van Nistelrooy to the Old Trafford dugout, but this time for the opposition. I have to say, it’s a no brainer to lay United here at 1.37. They have been so poor at home recently, that price feels much too short. They’ve lost to Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, Brighton and Crystal Palace in four of their last five home games. The win came against Southampton, and they made exceptionally hard work of that too.
I know Leicester have been very poor in the Premier League this season – they only have an average xG created of 1.12 which is the third worst attacking figure in the Premier League, but we know United will give them chances here. Leicester also have an exceptionally high average xG conceded so we’re likely to see goals here – Over 2.5 goals is going to be a popular bet here, along with Both Teams To Score. However, it’s hard to get away from a United lay from a value point of view. I fully expect a closer game than those odds suggest.
